THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW

What happens during a head spa treatment?

Once we get you checked in, your esthetician will come meet you in the lobby and bring you back to your service area. They will do quick consultation which includes a microscopic analysis of your scalp heath. This is to determine what your scalp needs and which products are best suited for you (No upcharge! Products are included). You are then given a spa gown to change into. When you return, we will have you relax on your spa bed to begin service. 

During your service, we will do a quick rinse and then relax you with aromatherapy and scalp massage using a combination of hand technique, scalp massage tool and our signature water halo. We use a combination of scalp cleansers and serums to rejuvenate your scalp health. 

Once your head spa service is complete, we do another microscopic scalp analysis to see much you scalp health has already improved.

If you have booked The Ultimate Japanese Head Spa Experience, you will also enjoy a gua sha facial which takes you into deeper relaxation. The use of a gua sha stone also reduces swelling and retained fluid in your face.

After your service is complete, we encourage clients to use our complimentary dry bar before heading out.

Is this suitable for all hair types?

We can not offer this service on anyone that has locs, braids, or extensions.

How do I prepare for my treatment?

No special preparation is needed! Generally we recommend arriving for treatment wearing as few hair products as possible (such as gels, hairsprays and leave-in product). Makeup is no problem. You can wear whatever you feel comfortable in. We provide a spa gown to change into so your clothes stay clean and dry.

Does this service include a blowout?

No we do not offer blowouts. We do have a complimentary blowdry station with products you can use to dry your hair.

What do I need to do after my service?

Nothing at all! Your hair will be wet at the end of your service (unless booking the dry head spa) so you are welcome to use our complimentary dry bar before you leave. Treatment includes serums to improve the health of your scalp so we recommend waiting 24 hours before washing your hair so it has time to take full effect.

How often can this be done?

The frequency of treatments can vary depending on individual preferences and the condition of the scalp and hair. However, generally, it is recommended to space treatments out to allow the scalp to fully benefit from the rejuvenating effects without overstimulation. For most people, a Japanese Head Spa treatment once every 1-2 weeks can be beneficial for maintaining scalp health, promoting relaxation, and enhancing hair texture. However, those with specific scalp conditions or concerns may benefit from more frequent treatments, while others may find that monthly treatments suffice for their needs.

Can I do this service with friends?

Yes! The head spa can be enjoyed alone, with a friend, a significant other or even as a group! Pairs and groups are actually quite common. Each client receives 1-on-1 service from their esthetician but the time wrapped around it is perfect to chat it up. 

We recommend OTR for groups because it has an open floorplan. Groups can enjoy West too but please be advised that each client has a private room for service. Feel free to call us about group bookings if you are having a hard time finding availability online!
